 Description/Use:

For all the MSC passive noise and vibration control products to work and last properly, it is important to install them correctly.

MSC offers a wide range of accessories to enhance your installation including:

  • Aluminum Molding for Perforated Sheet
    Aluminum moldings are used to join and connect Soundshield Perforated Sheet and allows for a very clean line. Clear silicone is suggested at molding and sheet connections to avoid rattling of the sheet.

  • Reinforced Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) and Sheet Lead
    MLV in both 1 and 2 lb/sq. ft is equal pound for pound in sound tranmission loss as lead. Engineering the application is the key. Lead is a good choice in an application where a limp mass barrier is required to laminate a hard, flat surface as it is workable and adheres well.

    MLV with fiber reinforcing is a more workable option when a sound barrier is used in a draped fashion as in a hung, draped barrier between partition walls. The MLV could be nailed or screwed in place with fender washers. Lead would not be as effective in this application due to the poor tinsel strength in shere.

    Both lead and MLV are excellent products for transmission loss but engineering the useage for the application can make a great difference between smooth sailing and rough seas in the installation process.

  • Tapes
    Tapes are used to seal the edges of the insulation.

  • Pins and Cap sets (pin and perforated base and caps)
    Pins and caps are used to mechanically fasten the Soundshield product in addition to adhering the product to the surface to be treated.
